Our Story

The tears of a sacred tree.

In the limestone hills of Dhofar, the Boswellia sacra tree weeps a milky resin that hardens into pale, luminous tears. For thousands of years it was carried from the ancient port of Sumhuram to temples and palaces across the world.

Sumhar is a new home fragrance house built on that heritage — pure Dhofari frankincense, reimagined for the way you live today.

Dhofar, Oman

The Name

Named after an ancient port.

Sumhuram stood on the Dhofar coast at Khor Rori, where frankincense was loaded onto ships bound for distant empires. Its ruins still overlook the lagoon today.

We took its name as a promise: to carry Dhofar’s most precious resin into homes around the world, once again.
